Youngstown State University’s baseball coaching staff is set to welcome aspiring players to two distinct summer camps this year, offering a blend of skill development and exposure to the program’s standards.
The Youth Camp, scheduled for August 5, targets children aged six through thirteen and emphasizes the fundamentals of the game. Participants will rotate through stations that cover hitting, defensive techniques, pitching, and base‑running, while also getting a feel for the YSU facilities. Each session includes a check‑in period, and attendees will receive an official NCAA baseball and a chance to earn MVP awards.
Camp Details
Older and more advanced players can look forward to the Fall Prospect Camp on September 20, which is open to high school seniors, juniors, and junior‑college athletes. The day begins with a 60‑yard dash, followed by skill work at infield and outfield positions, catcher pop‑time drills, bullpen sessions, and live batting practice. Two time slots are offered — one from 8 a.m. to noon and another from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — with registration opening at 7:30 a.m. for the first session.
Costs differ between the two camps. The Youth Camp carries a flat fee of $122 per participant, while the Fall Prospect Camp charges $191 for position players, $164 for pitchers only, and $212 for two‑way players. All campers are asked to bring their own equipment, and the university assumes no responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen items.
