On Sunday, August 30, the Youngstown State women’s soccer squad will travel to Oxford, Ohio, for a 7 p.m. showdown against the Miami RedHawks at Bobby Kramig Field.
A historic reunion on the road
The meeting marks only the second time the two programs have faced each other since an 8‑2 victory for Miami 26 years ago, a gap that adds a layer of nostalgia to the upcoming contest.
Both teams enter the game with contrasting recent form; Miami sits at 1‑3 after a narrow loss to Middle Tennessee State and a win over Morehead State, while Youngstown State brings a 2‑2‑1 record against Mid‑American Conference opponents and a 2‑2‑1 overall mark in its last three meetings with MAC foes.
Coach Rich Wall has used the non‑conference slate to test his side against a variety of competition, scheduling games against programs from the American, ACC, Big Ten and SEC conferences for the second straight season.
Looking ahead, the Penguins are slated to meet No. 20 Florida on September 3 and South Florida on September 6 before returning to league play, a stretch that could shape their early momentum and conference standing.
