Zach Pochiro has been named the new head coach of the Stockton Thunder, the Federal Prospect League franchise that is set to open its inaugural season this fall.
Reviving a Gritty Identity
Pochiro, a former fourth‑round pick of the St. Louis Blues in the 2013 NHL Draft, brings a decade of professional experience, including a standout 2018‑19 season with the Allen Americans, to the bench.
He has pledged to restore the aggressive, physical style of play that defined the original Thunder, a brand of hockey that resonated with fans in Stockton and the broader region.
The team will begin its schedule on the road against Oceanside on October 11, before hosting its first home game on October 17, also against Oceanside, at a venue that promises a lively atmosphere.
Front Office Reinforcements
Alongside Pochiro, the organization announced Gary Graham as vice president of business operations and team general manager, and Steve McCall as vice president of communications and media relations, bolstering the franchise’s administrative backbone.
Graham will also contribute as an assistant coach, adding depth to the coaching staff, while McCall will oversee the team’s media strategy and community outreach.
