Za'Kari Johnson, a standout athlete from South Florida, announced his move from Cypress Bay High School to Carol City and his verbal commitment to Florida State University, a decision that has generated considerable buzz within the state's football recruiting circles.
During his junior season he demonstrated rare versatility, rushing for more than 10 yards per carry while also contributing as a defensive back, where he recorded 10 tackles, four pass break‑ups and an interception, and he added 551 passing yards with seven touchdowns.
A Multi‑Dimensional Threat
Ranked as the fourth‑highest prospect in FSU's 2027 class and the top in‑state recruit, Johnson chose the Seminoles over a slate of elite programs including Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Notre Dame, a testament to the program's growing appeal.
His pledge comes alongside a wave of Division I commitments at Carol City, where teammates such as Temorris Campbell Jr., who will join Georgia, and Debonaire Johnson, headed to UCF, bolster a defense that already features several future collegiate players.
