Zy Huzzie Commits to University of Cincinnati Football Program

Defensive standout chooses Bearcats over Arkansas and Georgia Southern, eyes early enrollment

A Strategic Commitment

Zy Huzzie, a standout defensive back from LaGrange High School in Georgia, has pledged to continue his football career at the University of Cincinnati, choosing the Bearcats over other suitors.

During his junior season, Huzzie recorded 28 tackles, four pass breakups and three playoff interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, helping the Grangers reach the state semifinals for the second consecutive year.

The 6‑foot‑2, 190‑pound senior also limited opponents to just two receptions in man coverage, a testament to his coverage skills that earned him a spot on the Region 2‑3A first team.

Huzzie initially listed Georgia Southern and the University of Arkansas as potential destinations, but after a thorough evaluation of coaching staff and development pathways, he committed to Cincinnati, even planning to enroll in January to accelerate his integration into the program.

In a statement, he praised the Bearcats’ coaching staff for their vision and the university’s commitment to player growth, noting that the program’s trajectory aligns with his own ambitions.

As he prepares for his final high school season, Huzzie will serve as a defensive captain, leading a unit that aims to build on recent successes and make a deeper playoff run.

His decision reflects a broader trend of top regional talent opting for Cincinnati’s rising program, a move that could further elevate the Bearcats’ profile in the competitive collegiate landscape.
