Freshman Adjusts to College Football
Zyon Guiles, a true freshman offensive lineman for the 2026 season, has already begun reshaping his physique and mindset as he steps onto the college field. Since enrolling early, he has added roughly twenty pounds, a move he credits to a focused nutrition plan overseen by nutritionist Yimy Rodriguez.
The young lineman brings a high school pedigree that caught the attention of scouting services, landing at No. 154 overall in the national composite and No. 6 among interior offensive linemen according to 247Sports. He starred at Carvers Bay High School, a program that has produced several standout players.
Under the guidance of coaches Randy Clements and Jason Smith, Guiles feels the program is receiving exactly the expertise it needs to compete at a higher level. He also works daily with Coach Luke Day, whose feedback helps refine his technique and mental preparation.
So far, Guiles has rotated between both tackle positions, gaining valuable reps that he says are essential for understanding the speed differential between high school and college play. The increased tempo has been a steep learning curve, but he embraces the challenge.
Looking ahead, Guiles is eager to build on the progress made during spring practice and to contribute to the garnet and black in the upcoming season. As a freshman entering college straight from high school, he knows the experience will be new, but he remains focused on making an impact.
