Former Venezuelan Baseball Coach Detained by ICE After More Than a Decade in the United States
Oswaldo Pirela, a former minor‑league catching coach for the San Diego Padres, was taken into custody by ICE at El Paso airport after living in the U.S. for twelve years. His family, which includes two U.S.‑citizen children, applied for asylum in 2015, but the Department of Homeland Security says his visa expired in 2018.
