Senior accounting major Andy Thies of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has been honored with the 2026 WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award, recognizing his 3.642 GPA, All-American performances and leadership in guiding the Warhawks to a national championship.

The defending national champions, the UW‑Whitewater Warhawks, enter the NCAA Division III baseball tournament with a 40‑4 record, a fresh WIAC title and a roster reshaped by 18 newcomers, including Aaron Holland, Ben Lee, John Vodenlich and Andy Thies. They will host Macalester on Friday at 11 a.m., seeking to repeat their championship feat.
