Diego Forlán appointed interim coach of Uruguay men’s national team
Uruguay’s football federation confirmed that Diego Forlán will serve as interim coach of the senior men’s team, replacing Marcelo Bielsa after the nation’s group‑stage exit at the 2026 World Cup. The appointment also sees Forlán take charge of the under‑20 squad and guide the senior side through a set of friendlies in September, October and November, with a permanent manager to be named before the end of the year or early 2027.
