Merryville’s Young Basketball Team Captures First State Championship
The Merryville girls basketball team, composed mostly of eighth graders, won their first state title by defeating top‑seeded Midland 49‑46. Junior guard Avery Cournoyer scored 21 points and was named most outstanding player, while the roster features Stormy and Karis Fortenberry. The team now prepares for the pressures of next season.
