EA Sports is preparing to debut College Football 27, the first new college football video game in over a decade, with the deluxe edition hitting stores on July 6 and the standard version arriving on July 9. As reported by Eric Rayweather, the launch promises a fresh visual overhaul for many of the sport’s most recognizable programs.
Uniform overhauls across the board
The new edition showcases refreshed jerseys for powerhouses such as Georgia Tech, Indiana, Ohio State and South Carolina, while Nebraska, New Mexico State, Penn State, Texas Tech and UTEP also receive updated looks. Tennessee appears in its older Nike kit without the swoosh, reflecting the program’s transition to adidas, and North Carolina’s throwback helmet and Northwestern’s “Purple Gothics” designs are notably absent from the initial roster.
Helmet innovations and on‑field markings
Fans will notice fresh helmet designs for TCU and USF, though TCU’s full “Ireland” aesthetic remains unavailable at launch. The game also introduces new on‑field graphics, featuring College Football Playoff insignia and bowl logos stitched onto helmets, adding a layer of realism to the visual presentation.
What’s next for the title
While the initial release omits advertisement patches that some schools have already secured, EA Sports has pledged to roll out post‑launch updates that will incorporate newly unveiled uniform concepts. This incremental approach ensures the roster of designs stays current, reflecting the dynamic nature of college athletics.
