A Commitment That Could Reshape the Hawkeyes' Frontcourt
Iowa Hawkeyes have extended a scholarship offer to Logan Chwastyk, a 6‑foot‑10 center from Malvern, Pennsylvania, who is rated as a five‑star prospect in the 2028 class. At 215 pounds, he blends size with a versatile skill set that has already drawn attention from programs across the country.
During his sophomore season he posted averages of 16.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 54 percent from the field. His performance on the Nike EYBL Circuit with Team Final further cemented his reputation, as he contributed 12 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting 55.9 percent this spring.
Rankings from 247Sports and Rivals place him among the nation’s elite, with 247Sports ranking him No. 13 overall and No. 7 among centers in the 2027 class, while Rivals lists him at No. 18 overall and No. 6 at his position. The list of suitors includes Florida State, Stanford, Indiana, Notre Dame, Penn State, Villanova and Syracuse, underscoring his national appeal.
Head coach Ben McCollum has highlighted the need for a dominant interior presence as the Big Ten conference grows increasingly competitive, and Chwastyk’s combination of size, shooting efficiency and defensive instincts aligns perfectly with that vision.
If the Pennsylvania native were to commit, Iowa would gain a foundational piece around which the program can build, potentially transforming the team's defensive identity and offensive versatility in a conference where every edge matters.
