Volunteers Gear Up for a Milestone Season
The University of Tennessee will open its 2026 football campaign on September 5, when the Volunteers host Furman at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. The game is slated to start at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time and will be carried on the SEC Network+.
Adding to the excitement, EA Sports' College Football 27 launched worldwide on Thursday, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Early access began July 2 for MVP+ members and on Monday for those who preordered the Deluxe Edition or MVP Bundle.
Within the game, Tennessee's standout performers DeSean Bishop and Wendell Moe Jr. share the highest overall rating of 90, positioning them among the nation's most elite virtual players. Their ratings highlight a Volunteers roster that boasts twelve offensive skill players graded at 80 or above.
Among the other notable names in the virtual lineup are Braylon Staley, David Sanders Jr., and Mike Matthews, each earning ratings of 85 or better, while additional contributors such as Ethan Davis, Javin Gordon, Shamurad Umarov, Ory Williams, George MacIntyre, Jesse Perry and Radarious Jackson round out a deep and competitive group.
The buzz surrounding the title extends beyond the virtual field, as fans anticipate the real‑world impact of a program that returns to the field with a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent. With the season opener just weeks away, the Vols are poised to make a strong impression both on campus and in the digital arena.
