During a live broadcast from Dover Motor Speedway, FOX NASCAR presented the inaugural presentation of 'The Byrnsie Award' to Ray Wright, the pit performance director for Richard Childress Racing.
A Tribute to Legacy and Service
The award was created in tribute to the late broadcaster Steve Byrnes, whose career exemplified preparation, teamwork, and family, principles that the honor continues to celebrate.
Wright, who has been with RCR for more than a decade and a half, founded Pit Stops for Hope, a nonprofit that provides assistance to underserved children throughout North Carolina, extending his commitment to community service beyond the track.
The surprise announcement was introduced by Bryson Byrnes, Steve Byrnes' son, who revealed the news to Wright earlier in the week at the RCR race shop, adding a personal touch to the recognition.
