Alex Bowman is set to take the wheel of the No. 48 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in 2027, marking the next chapter of his racing career before he steps away from full‑time competition.
A career forged in adversity
Over the past few years the 33‑year‑old has battled a concussion, a broken back and episodes of vertigo that have kept him out of the cockpit for a total of twelve races, including five missed events in 2022, three in 2023 and four earlier this year.
Despite those setbacks, Bowman has amassed eight Cup victories from 378 starts and made the postseason seven times, his best finish coming sixth in 2020.

Speaking about the move, Bowman thanked Hendrick Motorsports and its partners for the opportunity, while team owner Rick Hendrick highlighted the driver’s resilience and the lasting impact he has had on the organization.
Looking ahead
Currently sitting 29th in the series standings and outside Chase contention, Bowman said he intends to make the most of the remaining time he has on the track, cherishing each lap before his eventual full retirement.
