From July 24 through August 2, the United States Under-16 Girls’ National Team will gather in Fayetteville, Georgia, for an intensive training camp that serves as a key stepping stone toward the 2027 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The gathering brings together 24 of the nation’s most promising youngsters, all selected from a pool of youth clubs that span the country.
During the camp the squad will meet Mexico on two separate occasions, with matches slated for July 29 and August 1. Those fixtures are designed to test the team’s cohesion and tactical flexibility as it prepares for the global tournament later this decade.
The 24‑player roster reads like a map of American soccer’s diversity, with seven athletes coming from California alone and representation from 19 different clubs. Notably, Mountain View’s Los Altos SC contributes three players, while Penn Fusion Soccer Academy, San Diego Surf SC and Solar SC each place two representatives on the lineup.
A Talent‑Rich Camp in Georgia
U.S. Soccer has placed youth development at the heart of its long‑term vision, and this camp is a concrete expression of that policy. The team arrives with a 5‑2‑2 record in international competition this year and has already faced off against European heavyweights such as Germany, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, England, the Netherlands and Sweden, gaining valuable experience ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
Among the participants is Katie Schoepfer, a standout from the class of 2025 who has earned her spot on the national roster. Her inclusion underscores the blend of club success and national ambition that defines the current generation of U.S. women’s youth talent.
