A New Era for Union County Football
Robby Pruitt, the celebrated high school football coach known for surpassing 400 career wins, has resumed his role as head coach of the Union County football program, marking his second tenure with the school.
Pruitt, who previously guided Williston to multiple state championships in Florida and Georgia, becomes the first coach to reach 200 victories in two different states, underscoring a career that spans over 42 seasons.
In his first press conference since returning, Pruitt outlined a two‑year rebuilding plan that emphasizes player development, community engagement, and a return to fundamentals, aiming to shift the program’s trajectory before the upcoming spring game against Ribault.
The coach acknowledged that football must compete with year‑round baseball and basketball offerings in the region, and he hopes to rekindle youth interest by expanding youth leagues and school‑based clinics.
Union County’s athletic director highlighted the school’s partnership with local organizations, including the University Christian School, to leverage resources and facilities for the rebuild, while the district’s official website will track progress and community involvement.
Fans and alumni have responded enthusiastically, citing Pruitt’s proven track record and his commitment to restoring the program’s storied legacy, as the team prepares to host Ribault on Thursday in a highly anticipated spring showcase.
