NASCAR has revealed that its next superspeedway package will debut at Daytona International Speedway in August 2026, marking a significant update to the Cup Series rulebook for the sport’s high‑speed venues.
Aerodynamic Adjustments
The new package trims the rear spoiler from seven inches to just four inches, a move designed to cut drag and reshape the aerodynamic profile of the cars.
Alongside the spoiler reduction, NASCAR will dial back engine output from 510 horsepower to 465 horsepower, further lowering downforce and altering the balance of power on the banking.
Despite the individual reductions, the series expects that single‑car lap speeds will be roughly three miles per hour faster than under the current configuration, while pack speeds remain comparable, a paradox that officials say will encourage more side‑by‑side competition.
Series officials argue that the revised package is intended to create more passing opportunities, giving drivers additional chances to overtake and keeping the racing action tighter throughout the event.
