The racing community is set to honor the late Kyle Busch with a special invitational race on August 21 at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston‑Salem, North Carolina. The event serves as a tribute to Busch’s passion for grassroots competition and his lasting impact on the sport.
Grassroots Racing Returns to Winston‑Salem
Bowman Gray Stadium, which first opened its gates in 1938, has a storied history that includes its inaugural NASCAR race in 1958. After a $9 million renovation completed in 2019, the venue secured a lease with NASCAR in March 2024, ensuring its role as a premier short‑track destination.
The invitational will feature two distinct racing categories: Legend cars, which replicate 1930s styling and can reach speeds of 115 to 140 mph, and Bandoleros, miniature stockcars with go‑kart‑like mechanics capable of up to 70 mph.
A Charitable Vision
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund, a nonprofit initiative founded by the Busch family to assist families facing medical and financial hardships.
The broadcast will be streamed live on FloSports and the NASCAR Channel, allowing fans nationwide to witness the action and support the cause.
A Community United
The race will include up to 51 Legend cars and 18 Bandoleros, with participants ranging from seasoned drivers such as Ben Kennedy, G.E. Chapman, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Bubba Wallace, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece to rising talent like Kyle Busch’s son, Brexton, who is currently competing in Legend cars at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
