The Indianapolis Motor Speedway witnessed a defining moment as Carson Kvapil captured his first NASCAR victory, a triumph that left team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. visibly moved.
Kvapil, who had been without a full‑time ride for much of the year, surged from second place to the lead on lap 79 and held on to win by 0.643 seconds over teammate Justin Allgaier.
The win marked the 14th victory for JR Motorsports in the season, a tally achieved by six different drivers and capped by a historic sweep of the top four finishers.
A sweep of the top four
Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott completed the quartet, making it the first time a single team occupied all four spots in the final running order.
Amid the celebration, attention turned to Josh Berry, whose inconsistent performances this year saw him fall outside the top‑30 and endure five DNFs, prompting team boss Dale Earnhardt Jr. to express deep disappointment.
Berry will be replaced next season by Jesse Love, the reigning O’Reilly Series champion, who will take the wheel of the No.21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford.
Kvapil’s victory also secured his spot in the Chase, positioning him 265 points behind series leader Justin Allgaier with two races remaining in the regular season.
