A Prospect With a Defensive Edge
Indiana University announced that it has offered a scholarship to Lewis Uvwo, a 6‑foot‑10 center whose game is defined by shot‑blocking and rim protection. The offer comes as the Hoosiers look to bolster their frontcourt for the upcoming seasons.
Uvwo, who transfers to Prolific Prep in Florida after stints in Nigeria, is listed as a four‑star recruit and ranks No. 30 overall in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He is also positioned as the fourth‑best center in that cohort.
On the Nike EYBL circuit, he logs 9.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.1 blocks per game, numbers that place him nearly double the next closest defender on the circuit. His timing and length have drawn praise from analysts who view him as a potential interior anchor.
The recruitment board has not been the only one to take notice; Baylor, UCLA, BYU, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Cincinnati, Providence and Seton Hall have all extended invitations, underscoring the breadth of his appeal.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Uvwo has leveraged his international background to adapt to the U.S. prep scene, blending a global perspective with a work ethic that coaches say could translate into immediate impact for the Hoosiers.
