A New Era of Investment
Legacy Motor Club, the motorsport venture co‑owned by NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, has revealed a wave of celebrity investment that signals a shift in how the sport imagines its future. The initiative is framed as more than a financial infusion; it is positioned as a cultural experiment that blends competition with broader storytelling.
A Diverse Portfolio of Backers
So far eleven names have been disclosed, including baseball veteran Bryce Harper, tennis ace Andy Roddick and surfing icon Kelly Slater. The roster also features athletes such as Chase Utley, Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan and Sam Byrne, entertainers like Jen Rubio and Guy Fieri, and musicians such as Darius Rucker. In total, 27 investors are on board, with sixteen yet to be announced.
What This Means for the Series
Beyond capital, the backers bring brand partnerships, media reach and cultural cachet. Their involvement is expected to accelerate collaborations with platforms such as the Food Network and to open new avenues for audience engagement across the United States and beyond, reinforcing the club’s ambition to become something fundamentally different within motorsports and culture.
