The announcement underscores the Hawkeyes' continued emphasis on securing top talent early in the recruiting cycle.
Thomas, who currently averages nearly 20 points per game for Princeton High School in Ohio, is rated as the No. 19 overall player and the No. 7 shooting guard in the 2028 class by Rivals. She also appears at No. 15 on ESPN's 2028 SportsCenter NEXT – Super 60 list and sits at No. 20 in the Prep Girls Hoops 2028 rankings.
A Competitive Landscape
The offer places Iowa in a crowded field that includes Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and several Big Ten rivals such as Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue. Each program is leveraging its own narrative of development and national success to persuade the young prospect.

Outside of high school, Thomas plays for the Sports City Angels 17U Nike EYBL club, where she has been recognized as the top prospect in Ohio by Rivals. Her performances there have further amplified expectations surrounding her future collegiate career.
