Elias Pearl, a four-star wide receiver from Port Charlotte, Florida, announced his commitment to the University of Florida on Wednesday, selecting the Gators over a field that included Florida State, Ole Miss, Georgia and LSU.
Ranked No. 95 overall in the 2027 class by Rivals, Pearl brings a blend of route-running precision and playmaking ability that has already drawn praise from analysts.
In his junior season he recorded 88 receptions for 1,405 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also adding 40 carries for 253 yards and 11 scores on the ground. He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns as a senior, underscoring his big-play pedigree.
The commitment adds to a Florida recruiting class that has been active since April, now boasting 16 pledges, including 13 announced after that month. Six of those commits hold four-star or higher ratings, positioning the Gators among the nation’s most competitive hauls.
The Broader Impact on the 2027 Landscape
Pearl’s decision comes after official visits to Ole Miss and Georgia in June, while LSU has already secured the top tight end and a four-star wide receiver in its own 2027 class. Analyst Andrew Ivins of 247Sports highlighted Pearl’s agility and knack for finding throwing lanes, noting that his skill set could immediately impact Florida’s offensive schemes.
Coach Jon Sumrall, who has been guiding the Gators’ recruiting efforts, praised Pearl’s work ethic and versatility, suggesting the receiver could contribute in multiple roles. The ripple effect of Pearl’s choice may influence the remaining wide-receiver targets still weighing their options, with Florida State still pursuing additional prospects in the 2026 and 2027 cycles.
