The End of an Era at Sallie Jane’s
Sallie Jane’s, a beloved bar and restaurant in Lexington, has officially closed its doors after three years of operation.
The establishment was founded and run by Warren Edwards, a local DJ known as DJ Warren Peace during University of Kentucky basketball games.
Edwards announced that the closure was necessary to devote time to caring for his mother, who fell seriously ill.
The bar was dedicated to his grandmother, Sallie Jane Walker, and featured a curated cocktail menu that paid homage to her memory, including drinks like Mamma’s Punch and Peace & Love.
While the closure marks the end of a chapter, Edwards has said he intends to keep DJing around town and has left the possibility of reopening the venue in the future open.
Regular patrons and members of the Lexington community have expressed disappointment, recalling the bar’s warm atmosphere and its role as a gathering spot for sports fans and music lovers alike.
