Providence High School clinches 8A baseball championship with 6-0 win over Corinth Holders

Panthers’ early surge and home‑run power push them toward a fourth state title

Providence High School seized a commanding 6-0 victory in Game 2 of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 8A baseball championship series, extending their lead over Corinth Holders.

The Panthers struck early, plating three runs in the opening inning before pulling away with solo homers from Jaxon Haynes and Jack Pejot that sealed the win.

Ending a 29‑Game Streak

Corinth Holders entered the series on a 29‑game winning streak, but a 4-3 triumph in the opener had halted Providence’s march, setting the stage for a dramatic reversal.

With the series now tied 1-1, Providence looks to capture its fourth state championship, having previously lifted the trophy in 1995, 2015 and 2022.

Corinth Holders, founded in 2010, previously represented the East in the 4A title game in 2019 and also contested the Class 8A state softball championship, where Providence emerged victorious 2-1 in a best‑of‑three.
