FIFA is set to debut a fresh football title, FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, on its new gaming platform Netflix Games, with the release scheduled for June 11 — the opening day of the 2026 World Cup. The game will be available to all Netflix subscribers at no extra charge, letting them experience a streamlined simulation of the tournament, featuring all 48 qualifying teams and 16 venues.
Players will be able to select from a roster of more than 1,200 athletes and compete across the designated stadiums, while the experience is built around the convenience of using a smartphone as a controller; a QR code can link the device to a television screen.
Up to four friends can join the same match, turning the living room into a mini arena for quick, social play.
From EA Sports to a Multi‑Partner Strategy
The launch marks a decisive turn for FIFA after its long‑standing partnership with EA Sports ended, prompting the governing body to seek collaborations with technology firms and streaming services to broaden its reach.
A Stepping Stone Toward a Larger Vision
FIFA described the title as the first phase of a longer‑term project, promising future updates, expanded platform support and deeper integration with the global tournament as it builds toward the 2026 edition.
Host Nations Prepare for a Historic Tournament
The 2026 World Cup will be staged across three countries — the United States, Canada and Mexico — making it the first edition to span three continents and underscoring the event’s growing international footprint.
