TNT Sports Extends Its NASCAR Footprint
TNT Sports is set to deepen its NASCAR coverage as part of the In‑Season Challenge, a five‑race, single‑elimination tournament that has become a centerpiece of the network’s sports portfolio. The expansion will see the addition of veteran analyst Jimmie Johnson, a seven‑time Cup Series champion, alongside ESPN’s Marty Smith and former driver Jeff Burton.
Johnson’s first appearance will be on June 28 at Sonoma Raceway, where he will provide commentary for the Toyota/Save Mart 350. The following weeks will take him to North Wilkesboro Speedway on July 19 and culminate at the championship event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 26. All three races will be televised on TNT and streamed via HBO Max, ensuring a broad audience across both traditional and digital platforms.
A New Analyst Lineup Shapes the Broadcast
In the studio, Jeff Burton will step in as an analyst for races that Johnson does not cover, bringing his own racing pedigree to the discussion. Marty Smith, known for his engaging pre‑ and post‑race hosting, will anchor the coverage, guiding viewers through the storylines that matter most.
The move underscores TNT Sports’ commitment to blending seasoned on‑track expertise with polished presentation. By leveraging the strengths of its new talent, the network aims to elevate the viewing experience and reinforce its position as a key media rights partner alongside NBC, Fox, The CW and Amazon Prime Video.
Fans can expect a seamless blend of live race action, in‑depth analysis, and behind‑the‑scenes insight, all delivered through TNT’s broadcast channels and the HBO Max streaming service.
