Gabby Williams, the former UConn standout who helped the Huskies to an unbeaten 2016 national championship, has agreed to a multi‑year contract with Unrivaled, the emerging 3×3 basketball league co‑founded by her former teammates Breanna Stewart and Naphessa Collier. The agreement was first reported by multiple industry insiders and marks a significant addition to the league’s roster of elite talent.
A New Chapter in Women’s 3×3 Basketball
Unrivaled, launched just a few years ago, has quickly positioned itself as a showcase for the world’s top women’s talent, offering a hybrid format that blends traditional 3×3 rules with a unique team‑based structure. The league’s third season will feature a mix of established stars and rising prospects, all competing for both prize money and prestige.
Williams brings a decorated résumé to the court. At UConn she was part of an unprecedented 148‑3 run, capturing two national titles and earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2017. Her international résumé includes Olympic bronze with France in 2021 and silver in 2024, as well as multiple EuroLeague All‑Star selections.
Beyond her defensive prowess, Williams has been recognized as a 1,000‑point/1,000‑rebound/1,000‑assist club member, one of only nine Huskies to achieve that milestone. She was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, later traded to the Los Angeles Sparks before signing with the Golden State Valkyries, where she helped the team to a 10‑5 start in her debut season.
The upcoming Unrivaled schedule includes matchups against familiar WNBA opponents. The Valkyries are slated to face the Connecticut Sun in Connecticut on July 10 and again on August 26, providing a high‑profile showcase for the league’s growing fan base.
Williams will join a roster that already features fellow UConn alumni such as Olivia Miles, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, creating a compelling narrative of former collegiate teammates now competing together on a professional stage. Their presence underscores the program’s continued impact on the global women’s basketball landscape.
