A New Era for 3×3 Basketball
Gabby Williams, the former UConn star who has been a fixture in the WNBA and on the French national team, announced this week that she has signed a multi‑year contract with Unrivaled, the fast‑growing 3×3 basketball league co‑founded by her former teammates Breanna Stewart and Naphessa Collier.
Williams, who most recently helped the Golden State Valkyries to a 10‑5 start in her first season with the franchise, will join a yet‑to‑be‑determined Unrivaled team for the league’s third campaign, which is scheduled to begin later this year.
A Career Defined by Defense and International Success
The deal marks the latest chapter in a career that includes two national championships at UConn, a Defensive Player of the Year award, and a place in the Huskies’ exclusive 1,000‑point/1,000‑rebound club.
A two‑time Olympian, Williams captured bronze with France at the Tokyo Games in 2021 and added a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she was also named to the All‑Star Five.
In Europe, she has been a dominant defensive presence for Fenerbahçe, earning two consecutive Defensive Player of the Year honors and helping the club to a second straight EuroLeague championship this spring.
Looking Ahead to the Connecticut Showdown
Her stint in the WNBA has seen her trade from the Chicago Sky, where she was the fourth overall pick in 2018, to the Los Angeles Sparks and later the Seattle Storm, where she earned two All‑Defensive Team selections and a first‑team All‑Star nod in 2025.
Beyond the court, Williams will soon bring her talents back to Connecticut, where the Valkyries are slated to face the Sun on July 10 and again on August 26 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, giving fans a chance to see her up close in a familiar market.
