Argentina's women's hockey team, known as Las Leonas, have revealed the 20‑player roster that will represent the nation at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, a tournament co‑hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium.
A squad built for ambition
Under the guidance of head coach Fernando Ferrara, the selected group blends veteran experience with emerging talent, featuring stalwarts such as Cristina Cosentino, Mercedes Artola and Agustina Gorzelany alongside rising stars like Valentina Raposo and Sofia Toccalino.
The announcement comes after Las Leonas finished as runners‑up in the 2025‑26 FIH Pro League, a result that has heightened expectations and reinforced the team’s belief ahead of the global showcase.
Training resumed on July 6 at the National High‑Performance Sports Center, where the players have been fine‑tuning strategies and building chemistry ahead of the tournament’s opening fixtures.
The World Cup will feature 32 nations — 16 in the women’s competition and 16 in the men’s — competing across two venues: the iconic Wagener Stadium in Amsterdam and the Belfius Hockey Arena in Wavre. Argentina’s opening matches are scheduled against the United States, Germany and Scotland, a prospect that promises exciting encounters.
With the squad now locked in and the tournament just months away, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how Las Leonas will translate their recent Pro League performance into a historic World Cup campaign.
