Azzi Fudd, the emerging talent from the Dallas Wings, has revealed that she will begin her professional career in the inaugural season of Project B, a newly formed women’s basketball league slated to start in January.
Family Legacy and Global Vision
Fudd’s father, Tim, enjoyed a distinguished overseas playing career that sparked her fascination with basketball beyond U.S. borders. She recalled vivid experiences traveling to China alongside NBA superstar Steph Curry, where she met fans and absorbed a different basketball culture.
The league will hold its regular season across several international venues, beginning with matches in Tokyo and Valencia, Spain, before expanding to additional locations later in the year.
Project B has already secured commitments from several WNBA stars, including Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, Jonquel Jones, Paige Bueckers, Chelsea Gray and Aliyah Boston, signaling a strong appetite for the concept.
Equity and Exposure Drive Player Interest
Organizers are offering participants equity stakes similar to those in the women’s 3‑on‑3 league Unrivaled, pairing financial upside with global media exposure. This model aims to give players a voice in the league’s growth while attracting sponsors and broadcasters.
Emma Hinchliffe of Fortune highlighted the strategic significance of the league, noting that it provides a platform for athletes to showcase their skills on an international stage and to build brands that extend far beyond the United States.
