Burrell athletics is currently scouting for new leadership to guide its wrestling and baseball teams after longtime coaches Steve Ansani and Jay Miller announced their departures.
A Legacy of Success
Ansani, who steered the wrestling program for two seasons, capped his tenure with a WPIAL Class 2A championship and a run to the PIAA quarterfinals, leaving a legacy of championship culture.
Miller, in his three‑year stint, compiled 13 wins, secured playoff berths, and orchestrated a dramatic upset over No. 6 Mohawk while pushing No. 3 Ellwood City to the brink, earning all‑section honors for several players.
Athletic director Brian Ferra said the administration is taking a deliberate approach, aiming to identify candidates who can preserve the programs’ momentum and community spirit.
Looking Ahead
The search comes as the school reflects on the contributions of Ansani, Miller, and the many student‑athletes who have benefited from their guidance, including players such as Josh Shields, Mark Spohn, Cam Baker, Brayden Mell, Adam Scheftic, Colton Whitlock, Trey Coury and Rayden Shirey.
With the next coaching staff poised to inherit a talented roster and a supportive environment, Burrell hopes to continue its trajectory of growth and competitive excellence.
