Corey Heim, a 24‑year‑old driver from Georgia, captured the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, leading 58 of the 160 laps and delivering a performance that instantly placed him among the sport’s rising talents.
The race’s climax came on lap 127, when a restart after the fifth and final caution saw Heim seize the lead for good. His crew chief, Bootie Barker, had urged him to get a good push and pinch Denny Hamlin, a strategy that paid immediate dividends as Heim overtook the veteran to claim the checkered flag.
Finishing behind Heim were Christopher Bell in second, Joey Logano in third, and Hamlin down in fifth. Bell’s runner‑up finish marked his sixth of the season, while Logano’s third‑place effort narrowed the points gap to just 0.754 seconds with five laps remaining.
The victory marks the second straight Brickyard 400 win for 23XI Racing, following Bubba Wallace’s triumph in 2025. 23XI Racing President Steve Lauletta praised the team’s rapid ascent, noting that the organization has already added a Daytona 500 and two Brickyard 400 titles in under six seasons.
Heim’s win also rewrites historical records. He became the first driver since A.J. Foyt in 1965 to win his first two Cup races within his first 15 starts, and he is the youngest winner of the event since Jeff Gordon in 1994, underscoring the significance of the achievement.
