Czech Coach Petr Vlachovsky Receives Lifetime UEFA Ban
Petr Vlachovsky, a former coach of the Czech women's national team and 1. FC Slovacko, was banned for life by UEFA after a court found he secretly recorded players in locker rooms and showers over a four‑year span.
The Czech judiciary convicted Vlachovsky of filming more than a dozen women, sentencing him to a one‑year suspended prison term and a five‑year prohibition from coaching within the country.
UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ruled that the conduct breached its statutes on indecent and insulting behaviour, prompting the governing body to ask FIFA to extend the sanction internationally and to have the Czech Football Association revoke his licence.
Global players’ union FIFPRO hailed the decision as a clear signal that abusive behaviour in football will not be tolerated, emphasizing the need for stronger safeguards for female athletes.
Vlachovsky’s coaching career spanned nearly fifteen years at 1. FC Slovacko and included a stint in charge of the Czech under‑19 women’s side before his arrest in 2023, when the illicit footage surfaced online.
The case underscores a growing intolerance for sexual misconduct in sport, with governing bodies increasingly willing to impose severe penalties to protect athletes and preserve the integrity of competition.
