David Trunda, the president of the Czech Football Association, has turned his attention to Oklahoma City, where a new professional soccer venture is taking shape.
During several visits, Trunda has examined the city’s growing soccer culture, met with local officials, and expressed admiration for the community’s support.
A Transatlantic Collaboration
His own experience includes steering FK Mlada Boleslav, a top‑flight Czech club, and he has already connected with Sead Karaselimovic, the sporting director of OKC United, through a mutual acquaintance.
Trunda’s vision extends beyond the senior side; he wants to help build a robust youth development pipeline that can feed talent into the United Soccer League team and beyond.
The club’s branding was unveiled at Mayor David Holt’s State of the City address, signaling municipal backing for the project.
With a target debut in the United Soccer League in 2028, OKC United aims to become more than a professional outfit, aspiring to influence the sport at grassroots levels across the region.
