DePaul Adds Nigerian Forward Doyinsola Lijirin for 2026‑27 Season

Coach Jill M. Pizzotti highlights the transfer's potential to strengthen the frontcourt

A New Chapter for the Frontcourt

DePaul University's women's basketball program received a significant boost this spring as head coach Jill M. Pizzotti announced the commitment of transfer forward Doyinsola Lijirin for the upcoming 2026‑27 season.

A native of Ondo State, Nigeria, Lijirin brings three years of experience from Wagner College, where she established herself as a reliable frontcourt presence and earned All‑Northeast Conference Second Team honors in 2025‑26.

During the 2025‑26 campaign she averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, shooting 43.8 percent from the floor, and finished her collegiate career with 545 points and 408 rebounds across 84 appearances, 57 of which were starts.

Coach Pizzotti emphasized that Lijirin's length and defensive instincts should translate into immediate impact on both ends of the floor, noting that the player's steady developmental curve has seen her scoring and rebounding numbers rise each season.

The addition marks the third spring signing for the Blue Demons, joining fellow newcomers Louis Volker and Zoey Ward, a move that underscores the program's aggressive recruitment strategy as it looks to contend in the competitive Big East landscape.
