Demolition Underway
Demolition crews have started razing structures on North Sheffield Avenue as part of a $47,000‑per‑building teardown that DePaul University has authorized for the first two sites, with permits issued to Heneghan Wrecking.
The cleared space will accommodate a four‑story basketball arena that includes courts and sport‑focused amenities, a project overseen by the university’s chosen general contractor, Bulley & Andrews.
Design Vision
Antunovich Associates and HNTB have unveiled a design that aims to sharpen DePaul’s competitiveness in the Big East Conference and on the national stage, providing a modern facility intended to attract student‑athletes.
The caisson permit was issued on June 5, while the full construction permit has remained pending since April 6, marking a staggered approval process for the project.
University officials project that the combined demolition and construction phase will take approximately 24 months, a timeline that aligns with the school’s broader athletic‑facility strategy.
