A Dual Path: Coaching and Broadcasting
Geno Auriemma, the longtime head coach of the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball program, is adding a new dimension to his already storied career.
The coach is set to launch a podcast that will explore the habits and mindsets of high‑achieving individuals from a range of fields, with 12 episodes already recorded.
While the podcast marks a fresh venture, Auriemma is no stranger to audio storytelling; he previously helmed a show called Holding Court with Geno Auriemma in 2017.
Earlier this week, he made a one‑time appearance on ESPN, where he joined veteran anchor Robin Roberts to call a WNBA game that featured several former UConn players.
The broadcast was notable not only for the caliber of talent on display but also because it marked Auriemma’s first collaboration with Roberts on a live sports telecast since 1997, a reunion that underscored the enduring ties between the coach and the network.
Despite the high‑profile exposure, Auriemma has been clear that he remains fully committed to his coaching responsibilities at Connecticut and has not signaled any intention to transition to a permanent broadcasting role.
In remarks to the press, he emphasized that his primary focus continues to be the development of his team and the pursuit of excellence on the court.
