A historic class enters the Hall
The NASCAR Hall of Fame will welcome three new members in 2027, as Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton and Larry Phillips earned induction after a rigorous selection process that combined the votes of a 50‑member expert panel with fan participation on NASCAR.com.
Harvick, a 2014 Cup Series champion, brings a résumé that includes 60 career victories and the iconic 2007 Daytona 500 win, a milestone that helped cement his status among the sport’s modern greats.
Jeff Burton, who amassed 21 Cup Series wins during his driving career, has since transitioned to a prominent role as a driver analyst for NBC Sports, where his insights have become a staple of the network’s motorsport coverage.
Larry Phillips, celebrated for his dominance on short tracks and dirt ovals, surpassed the 1,000‑win threshold, a testament to his longevity and skill in a niche but vital segment of American racing.
The induction ceremony is slated for January 22, 2027, a date that will see the trio join an illustrious group of honorees in a night that also highlights other contributions to the sport.
Panel members include current Hall of Fame inductees, track owners, media representatives, manufacturer officials and reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, ensuring that the vote reflects both tradition and contemporary perspectives.
Voting results revealed that Harvick captured 92 percent of the Modern Era ballot, while Burton received 32 percent and Phillips 38 percent of the Pioneer ballot, underscoring the varied strengths of each candidate.
In a separate recognition, Lesa France Kennedy was announced as the recipient of the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR, honoring her pivotal role in the sport’s governance and business development.
