A Milestone Collaboration
Naval Base Coronado, in partnership with NASCAR, is set to stage a historic race weekend that marks the first time the Navy has opened its grounds to a major motorsport event. The celebration coincides with the Navy’s 250th birthday and aims to bridge military tradition with American racing culture.
Security will be heightened throughout the venue, and every attendee must present a valid government‑issued photo ID at all times. Entry will be funneled through the Stockdale Gate, which connects directly to the Coronado Bridge, ensuring a controlled flow of traffic onto the base.
Ticket Numbers and Access Restrictions
Organizers report that about 100,000 tickets have been sold for the Saturday and Sunday programs, while Friday’s sessions are reserved for base personnel, their families and a select group of Coronado residents. Public sales have already moved roughly 50,000 tickets for the weekend’s main events.
Parking, Transit and Fan Incentives
All parking will be confined to designated lots on the base, each paired with a digital parking pass distributed with the ticket. Early arrivals are encouraged to carpool, and the Metropolitan Transit System will run special shuttles from the downtown transit center to the Naval Air Station North Island Transit Center. The first 10,000 fans through the gates on both days will receive a commemorative gift, with Saturday’s offering a Panini Trading Card Pack celebrating the San Diego race and Sunday’s a pair of Mechanix Wear FastFit gloves.
Live Entertainment and Closing Remarks
After the conclusion of Saturday’s O’Reilly Series race and Sunday’s featured Anduril 250 for Cup cars, the venue will host live musical performances to keep the celebration lively. Capt. Loren Jacobi, the Commanding Officer of Naval Base Coronado, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating the event honors both the Navy and the nation while showcasing the spirit of innovation that defines the next 250 years.
