Seven‑time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson has revealed a new, culturally diverse ownership consortium for his Legacy Motor Club, signaling a strategic shift toward a broader, media‑savvy presence in motorsports.
A Multisector Investment Group
The consortium brings together athletes such as Scott Dixon and Bryce Harper, musicians including Darius Rucker and Guy Fieri, and a roster of entrepreneurs led by Knighthead Capital Management. Their collective goal is to build a modern organization that competes at the highest level while extending the team’s influence through partnerships, digital content and fan engagement.
Johnson will retain his position as majority owner, providing continuity of vision while leveraging the new investors’ expertise and networks. The group plans to field two full‑time cars in the NASCAR Cup Series, with Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek slated to drive.
Strategic Ambitions
Beyond on‑track competition, the ownership group aims to reshape the team’s brand narrative, tapping into music, lifestyle and business collaborations to attract a wider audience. By integrating media initiatives and experiential fan programs, Legacy Motor Club hopes to set a new standard for how NASCAR teams engage with supporters in the digital age.
