Jimmie Johnson, the seven‑time NASCAR Cup Series champion, will bring his racing career to a close after the Daytona 500 in February 2025, his final start behind the wheel of the iconic No. 48 car that defined his two‑decade dominance.
Beyond the checkered flag, Johnson is stepping into a new role as majority owner of Legacy Motor Club, the team that has assembled a star‑studded investor group including Bryce Harper, Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan, Andy Roddick, Darius Rucker, Guy Fieri and Chase Utley.
Legacy Motor Club’s New Chapter
The ownership transition is accompanied by a strategic reshaping of the organization, with plans to field a third full‑time entry in 2027 featuring drivers such as Erik Jones, John Hunter Nemechek and Riley Herbst, all while pursuing a Hollywood Walk of Fame star to be unveiled during the Daytona 500 week.
