The Kraft Group has unveiled a sweeping plan to erect a 25,000‑seat soccer stadium in Everett, Massachusetts, a project that could later swell to 35,000 seats to accommodate concerts and other large‑scale events.
A waterfront vision
The stadium would rise on the former Mystic River power plant site, directly across from the Encore Boston Harbor casino, and would be accompanied by a four‑acre waterfront park designed to become a new public amenity.
Local residents, particularly in neighboring Charlestown, have voiced concerns about the surge in traffic and the strain on parking infrastructure that the venue could generate.
If all goes according to schedule, the facility could open around 2030, a timeline that dovetails with the planned 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup, potentially positioning the stadium as a key venue for that tournament.
The proposal also promises to liberate the New England Revolution from its long‑term reliance on Gillette Stadium, a move championed by Revolution president Brian Bilello, who serves on the board of the Boston Soccer 2026 FIFA organizing committee.
Before construction can commence, the project must navigate a series of regulatory steps, including a Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act review and the acquisition of municipal permits, while the existing power plant is demolished to clear the site.
