A New Chapter for LSU Football
Nike has tapped into the talent pool of Louisiana State University by enrolling eleven of its most promising football players into the Blue Ribbon Elite Program, a partnership that goes beyond simple endorsement deals and offers athletes a dedicated platform for product development and multimedia content.
The cohort, which represents the largest group of college prospects ever assembled under the Nike banner in a single year, features a blend of seasoned contributors and fresh faces who are expected to shape the Tigers' performance on the field and their personal brands off it.
Among the standouts are running back Harlem Berry and fullback Caden Durham, who led the team in rushing last season, and tight end Trey’Dez Green, who set a new LSU record for touchdown receptions by a tight end. Jordan Seaton, projected as a first‑round draft pick, will anchor the offensive line at left tackle, while wide receiver Jayce Brown arrives as one of the most highly rated transfers in the portal.
Defensively, Princewill Umanmielen and safety Ty Benefield headline a group of transfers who have already earned accolades, with Whit Weeks bringing All‑American recognition and DJ Pickett, the On3 National Defensive True Freshman of the Year, poised to lead the secondary.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt will share snaps with Husan Longstreet, a backup who could see increased relevance in the coming years, while Brown, despite never having taken a college snap, is expected to make an immediate impact as the top‑ranked recruit of his class.
The Nike partnership does not obligate the athletes to remain at LSU, but it does provide them with resources that could influence their decisions beyond the 2026 season, potentially reshaping recruiting dynamics at rival programs such as Texas, Clemson, South Carolina and USC, all of which also participate in the Blue Ribbon network.
