A Revised Calendar Takes Shape
NASCAR has unveiled the backbone of its 2027 Cup Series calendar, confirming a 38‑race lineup that will stretch from the opening weekend in February through the fall finale in September. The schedule places a premium on traditional holiday weekends, while a handful of venues are still awaiting final approval.
The season kicks off with a double‑header at Daytona International Speedway, featuring a February 13 event and the iconic Daytona 500 on February 21. Both races are steeped in history and draw massive attention from fans and sponsors alike.
Atlanta Motor Speedway will host two of the season’s early contests, first on February 28 and again on July 18, giving teams a chance to fine‑tune setups before the summer stretch. The back‑to‑back dates underscore the track’s growing importance in the lineup.
Charlotte Motor Speedway is slated for a May 30 showdown, while Darlington Raceway will close the regular season with a September 5 date. These events are part of a broader effort to preserve classic venues alongside emerging opportunities.
Broadcast Landscape
Broadcast rights are divided among several major networks. FOX Sports will air the first 14 Cup events, followed by five races on Prime Video, another five on TNT, and the final 14 on USA Network. This distribution reflects a strategic push to reach both traditional cable audiences and the expanding streaming market.
Two locations remain under review: the Naval Base Coronado street circuit and a proposed Chicago street course. Their potential inclusion would add a unique urban flavor to the schedule, but officials are still confirming logistics and safety parameters. In the meantime, fans can look forward to more announcements as the season approaches.
