The event will mark the first time the series has raced on the half‑mile “Madhouse” since 1971, cementing its status as the shortest track to host a points‑paying NASCAR event in the modern era.
The Madhouse Revived
Opened in 1938, Bowman Gray has long been a proving ground for legends, with names like Rex White, Richard Petty and Junior Johnson among its early winners. After a multi‑year renovation, the stadium now accommodates roughly 17,000 fans and is operated by NASCAR under a lease that runs through 2050.
Clay Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway and vice president of NASCAR Mid‑Atlantic, called the upcoming race “an incredibly exciting moment,” highlighting the venue’s storied past and its renewed role in the national series.
The 2025 Clash at Bowman Gray delivered memorable moments, with Chase Elliott and Ryan Preece each claiming victory in previous editions, and the 2024 Kyle Busch Invitational paid tribute to the driver’s legacy, even featuring a race by his 11‑year‑old son.
The 2027 schedule also sees the Truck Series return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, while the series will not revisit Rockingham in that year, underscoring a strategic shift in the tour’s calendar.
