NASCAR is set to make its first ever appearance on a 3.4‑mile road course at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, turning the military base into a temporary motorsport venue for the Navy 250 Truck Series.
A Milestone for Johnson and the Series
Seven‑time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will contest both the Truck and Cup races, marking only his second start in the Truck division since his 2008 debut and his first road‑course outing in the series since a 2010 Sonoma victory.
The lineup also includes Jamie McMurray, a 2010 Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 winner, Brendan Gaughan, a veteran with eight Truck victories, and Kaz Grala, who became the youngest driver to win a NASCAR race at Daytona in 2017.
Young contenders such as points leader Layne Riggs and Kaden Honeycutt, who captured the most recent road‑course race in May, will share the grid with Adam Andretti, a scion of the famed Andretti racing family, and Justin Marks, owner of Trackhouse Racing and a four‑time Truck top‑10 finisher.
The event will showcase a blend of manufacturers, with Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet and Ram all represented through their respective teams and sponsors, underscoring the series’ expanding footprint on the West Coast.
