A Fiery Start at Lime Rock Park
During the recent NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, rookie Thomas Annunziata found himself running inside the top ten, battling for position among the series’ most experienced drivers.
Midway through the stage, smoke began to pour from his truck before flames erupted, forcing Annunziata to climb out of the cockpit while the vehicle was still moving. He exited the car on his own, remained conscious, and was quickly assessed by medical personnel.
Emergency responders transported the rookie to a local hospital for further evaluation. Officials confirmed that he was awake and alert, though his condition remained under observation with no additional updates released by NASCAR.
With the track cleared, the race continued and concluded with Grant Enfinger crossing the finish line first, securing the victory for his team.
Behind Enfinger, Landen Lewis finished second, followed by Kaden Honeycutt, Parker Kligerman and Christian Eckes, rounding out the top five finishers.
The incident involved the TRICON Garage entry, a program fielded by team owner Bob Pockrass. The organization has not yet provided further details on Annunziata’s medical status, but has expressed support for the driver and his family.
