Nike has announced the return of the Kobe 10 Protro, a reimagined version of the shoe that first appeared on the court in 2015, bringing the beloved silhouette back with a suite of contemporary performance upgrades.
The new model retains the signature carbon‑fiber forefoot wing that gave the original its lateral stability, while the upper has been rebuilt from an engineered mesh that promises greater breathability and a more adaptive fit.
Performance Upgrades
Inside, Nike replaced the original Lunarlon and Air Zoom units with Cushlon 3.0 foam and a full‑length Zoom Strobel, delivering a softer impact and quicker energy return that cater to today’s high‑speed play.
The outsole has been reengineered using movement data from the Nike Sport Research Lab, preserving the iconic traction pattern but refining the geometry to improve grip on a variety of surfaces.
A dedicated colorway launch will debut on August 23 in the Halo palette, a direct homage to the original’s aesthetic, with additional engineered‑mesh iterations scheduled for 2026 and Flyknit versions featuring ZoomX foam planned for 2027.

Throughout the development process, Nike subjected the prototype to extensive wear testing and incorporated feedback from professional athletes, ensuring that the updates translate into tangible on‑court benefits.
The shoe’s messaging, emblazoned with Kobe Bryant’s “Endure and Conquer” mantra, serves as a reminder of the late star’s relentless work ethic, tying the technical enhancements to his enduring influence on the game.
